From Gutter to Grace

My approach to the troubles I faced in life was to try and drink them away. I was only four years old the first time I got drunk on homemade wine. That first abuse of alcohol was the beginning of a life plagued with emotional and physical pain, broken relationships, and feelings of insecurity. By the time I was in my mid-twenties, this high school dropout had tried just about every kind of booze and drugs as a full-blown alcoholic and drug addict.

At the lowest point in my life, I had almost given up on the possibility of ever achieving happiness in life, but God sent a heavenly angel to guide me back to the road that leads to eternal joy. That angel was in the form of a stranger who saw me as someone who needed help, and he began to minister to me and helped me to see that there was more to life than alcohol and drugs. At the age of forty-eight, I found a better way to deal with life's challenges. I found Jesus and committed my life to him.

This book is the account of how a fearful, shy, and timid little boy turned to God to break away from the chains of fear, addiction, and unlawful living that held him captive for over four decades.

The Scriptures tell us in Proverbs 3:5-6 to: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In everything acknowledge him and he will direct your path." This Scripture became my guide for living.

This book is a reminder for anyone who may have forgotten, or has never known about the wonderful promises that God makes to all who believe in him.

God's way is always the better way.
