It is easy to have faith when all is going well. It is easy to trust God when you have a great job, a great marriage, good health and sound finances. It is very easy to lift your hands and sing God's praises when life is beautiful. It can, however, be quite difficult to trust God when severe trials enter your life. It can make it hard to sing his praises when waves of adversity bring you to the brink of despair. It can seem especially bad when those around you seem to be enjoying life and have things going their way, especially when you see unbelievers with happy homes, good health, and great careers. It is when severe trials come and our faith is tested to the breaking point that we must remember that "... we know in all things that God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose". (Rom 8.28) There is a hidden realm in which spiritual warfare is being waged by the forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6.12). It also gives reasons for hope, both now and in eternity to come.
